1) Omaha
Beach – War
Front – Charming by Seeking the Gold (4/24) (DI 2.69) $625,000
| Omaha Beach has improved in every start this year. A trend that's
primed to continue. A well seasoned colt who started his career on the turf. Fought off a determined Improbable in a gutsy
win in the Arkansas Derby. He has tactical speed and as game as they
come. Looking stout as the Kentucky Derby approaches. Scratched
2) Game Winner – Candy Ride (Arg) – Indyan Giving by A.P. Indy (3/3) (DI 2.33) $110,000 | Game Winner is cycling to a big effort in the Kentucky Derby. He's coming off two game runner up finishes to Omaha Beach in a division of the Rebel Stakes and to stablemate Roadster in the Santa Anita Derby. He won the BC Juvenile over the strip last year. He has versatile running style. Should sit a good trip.
3) Improbable – City Zip – Rare Event by A.P. Indy (2/11) (DI 4.23) $200,000 | A game 2nd to Omaha Beach in the Arkansas Derby. The sharp looking chestnut has more speed then people give him credit for. He could very be involved early and throughout. Same owners/trainer combo won the Kentucky Derby with Justify last year. They will try to do it again.
4) Roadster – Quality Road – Ghost Dancing by Silver Ghost (4/23) (DI 2.60) $525,000 | A sharp looking son of Quality Road was all out to win the Santa Anita Derby with a long, strong rally to beat his stablemate Game Winner. Should run same style in Derby. Fights hard to the wire.
5) Maximum Security – New Year’s Day – Lil Indy by Anasheed (5/14) (DI 3.00) Homebred | An undefeated speedy son of New Year's Day has done nothing wrong winning his four career races by a combined 39 lengths. Boasts some of the best speed figures of any horse in the race and came home in just under 36 seconds for the final 3 furlongs in the Florida Derby. Debuted in a $16,000 maiden claimer. If left alone on the front, it could be lights out. A very intriguing horse. (Kentucky Derby Winner DQ'd)
6) Code of Honor – Noble Mission (GB) – Reunited by Dixie Union (5/23) (DI 0.76) $70,000 | The good looking son of Noble Mission (GB) ran 3rd in the Florida Derby to Maximum Security in his third start of the year. This colt has upside, and a move forward is anticipated. One of the horses in this race that will benefit from a quick pace, as he should be going forward late as others begin to back up. (Travers Stakes Winner 2019)
7) By My Standards – Goldencents – A Jealous Woman by Muqtarib (3/22) (DI 3.00) $150,000 | A Fairground specialist who rallied to beat a game Spinoff in the Louisiana Derby seems to be moving in the right direction. Ran to a 2nd place finish in his first career start at Churchill Downs in a field of 11.
8) Tacitus – Tapit – Close Hatches by First Defence (2/21) (DI 3.31) Homebred | A regal looking son of Tapit and winner of the Wood Memorial--just like his dad. Colt seems to be improving and should sit a trip somewhat off the pace and make a run. I think the Belmont will suit him fine.
9) Cutting Humor – First Samurai – Pun by Pulpit (4/7) (DI 2.11) $135,000 | He broke a track record in winning the Sunland Derby and has been flying under the radar of many, and well as his trainer in this year's addition. How good was that race is hard to tell, but the final time was real good.
10) Spinoff – Hard Spun – Zafftig by Gone West (2/18) (DI 2.78) Homebred | This lightly raced colt broke from the ten hole in the Louisiana Derby and ran an admirable race. He got out gamed by, By My Standards. Sneaky tactical speed that should have him in a good spot early. A tall assignment, but this horse has upside.
11) War of Will – War Front – Visions of Clarity (Ire) by Sadler’s Well (4/17) (DI 1.72) $298,550 | Put a line through his Louisiana Derby. He never got involved early in that race and that was the end. A well-seasoned colt with 8 lifetime starts, and all were good except for his last one. Colt has a solid bottom and a return to form is a strong possibility, but will it be good enough? A winner at CD. A well put together colt. He will offer big value to any ticket.
12) Win Win Win – Hat Trick – Miss Smarty by Smarty Jones (3/20) (DI 4.50) Homebred | The sharp looking dark bay Hat Trick (Jpn) colt will round out the top 12. Horse gets over the CD strip nicely and likes to get it going. He will sit back and make a run late, but a win could be asking a lot, but a strong effort and the right scenario, another horse who will add value to exotics.
